PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. – Campbellsville's men's wrestling team outscored its opponents 84-8 at the Smoky Mountain Duals on Saturday at the LeConte Convention Center to move to 4-2 on the season.
The Tigers shutout Central Baptist College en route to a 54-0 victory, while Campbellsville won the final eight matches against 16th-ranked Reinhardt University to win 30-8.
Campbellsville 54, Central Baptist 0
Campbellsville rolled in its first dual of the day against Central Baptist as it shutout out the Mustangs, 54-0.
Jordan Martinez started the dual with a 16-1 technical fall over Jeffery Williams at 125 pounds, followed by
Kolten Radaz pinning Michael Cunningham in the second period of the 133-pound match.
After a forfeit win for
Tombola Sindihebura at 141 pounds, Jaedin Skalpsky earned a 16-1 technical fall victory over JoeQuan Richardson.
David Sparks and DeQuaylon Gray went into overtime and Sparks earned a 6-4 SV-1 victory.
The Tigers continued to roll in the dual with a 16-0 technical fall from
Michael Diemer at 165 pounds and
Justin Brown won via forfeit at 174 pounds.
Chuck Sharon pinned Andres Perez just 57 seconds into the match to push the Campbellsville lead to 37-0. The Mustangs forfeited the 197-pound bout and making his season debut,
Nate Jackson pinned Francisco Joseph to cap off the matchup and Campbellsville walked away with a 54-0 victory.
Campbellsville 30, Reinhardt 8
To round out the duals, the Tigers fell behind early with Reinhardt winning the first two matches. However, Campbellsville rebounded and won the final eight bouts to defeat the Eagles, 30-8.
Kolby Milner first defeated Martinez in a 12-3 major decision, while Jordan Pitt beat Radaz, 16-6 to put Reinhardt ahead, 8-0.
Jayce Carr got Campbellsville back within two points after he pinned Kalvin Harris (ranked 13th at 149 pounds) in the 141-pound bout.
Sklapsky remained unbeaten on the season with a 7-2 decision over Dawson Hunt to give the Tigers a 9-8 advantage. In the 157-pound match, Sparks pinned Demarius Robinson 4:28 into the contest. The Campbellsville lead was extended to 18-8 following a 7-3 decision from Diemer against Tate Holmes (ranked 20th at 165 pounds).
Brown's first action of the day came with him edging Michael Carew (ranked 13th at 174 pounds) in a 3-2 decision. Sharon shutout Antonio Stewart (ranked 17th at 184 pounds) in the 184-pound weight class to earn a 3-0 decision.
Campbellsville continued to its run with Franklin defeating Austin Brown (ranked 19th at 197 pounds) in an 11-4 decision. The dual came to a close with
Hunter Hancock earning his first win over an NAIA wrestler this season after he upset No. 7-ranked Hinton Bolinger in the 285-pound match with TB-2 4-3 contest.
The Tigers are off for Christmas break and return to action on Friday, Jan. 5 at the NWCA-NAIA National Duals in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
