Camposano, Moore win individual conference titles, Tigers finish fourth at NAIA East Regional

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — The Tigers had six grapplers wrestling in the Mid-South Conference finals and came away with a pair of individual titles but Campbellsville finished fourth in the team standings of the MSC Championship.

Adrian Camposano and Terrell Moore both won individual titles at 125lbs and 285lbs, respectively. Camposano won his championship match handily but Moore earned a pin with just seven second left on the clock in the third period to seal the title.

The tournament doubled as the NAIA East Regional Qualifier, which will seed teams for the national championship scheduled for March 3-4 in Topeka, Kan. The top three finishers in each of the 10 weight classes claimed one of the 180 automatic spots to the national championships.

Including Moore and Camposano, Chuck Sharon, Jayce Carr, Jaedin Sklapsky and Justin Brown all earned automatic berths to the NAIA Championship.

The fourth-ranked Tigers finished fourth in the team standings with 114.5 points. No. 5 Lindsey Wilson claimed the title with 167.5 points, followed by No. 7 University of the Cumberlands with 131 points and No. 9 Life University with 119.5.

Sklapsky went through the 149 bracket with three wins – a major decision 15-5 over Bobby Ehman, pin over Kemondra Pauldo in 0:42 and 6-3 decision over Dallas Brown to set up a championship match with Leonard.

Tenth-ranked Lindsey Wilson's Rhodes Bell got the best of No. 8 Justin Brown in the title bout at 174, falling 3-1. Brown won three matches as well leading up to the final – a 7-5 decision over Darrell Duggan, 4-3 over Colton Rowe and 5-3 over Colton Gonzalez.

Top-ranked Chuck Sharon fell for the first time this year in the finals to Matt Walker from Lindsey Wilson. Sharon led 4-2 but Walker earned two reversal points and ended up winning on riding time late, 5-4.

The remainder of the 240-man field will be filled with at-large individuals. Each of the six qualifying groups receive five wildcards, which are chosen by the coaches at the post-qualifier meeting. The remaining 30 wrestlers are determined by a national selection committee. Up to 15 nominations from each area are considered by the committee.
