Tough stretch of matches doesn't go Tigers way in losses to William Woods and Georgia Gwinnett

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — With probably the toughest stretch of two consecutive matches in the regular season, ninth-ranked Campbellsville men's tennis could not dethrone No. 1 Georgia Gwinnett or No. 16 William Woods on Saturday.

The Tigers came up just short in a 5-4 loss to the Owls and the host Grizzlies swept CU, 7-0.

William Woods had the momentum after doubles, winning two of the three matches. Then the Tigers started to rally by winning three singles matches at No. 1 (Brendan Aguilar), No. 5 (Adrian Sabrojo) and No. 6 (Mario Belloni).

The Owls, who were just needing three points, won the middle seeding's at Nos. 3-5.

Alejandro Reyes had had multiple opportunities to seal the victory for the Tigers but his opponent, Johnnie Carmichael, overcame eight match points to win in three sets.
