Box Score CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Ninth-ranked Tiger tennis improves its record to 6-2 with a defeat over Cornerstone University on Saturday at the Kelly Hall Tennis Complex.
The Tigers swept all three doubles points to take a 3-0 match lead. Second-ranked pair Brendan Aquilar and
Chrys Castro took down Marc Lerch and Francisco Fernandez , 8-0, to lead the doubles.
No. 2 doubles
Alejandro Reyes and
Adrian Sabrojo took on Austin Hendrick and Sam Ottosen with ease, winning 8-2 and No. 3 doubles
Victor Ahlbeck and Mario Belloni defeated Dan Ribbink and Grant Morton, 9-7.
The lone match win for the Golden Eagles came in the No. 2 singles match, as Castro fell to Fernandez 7-5, 6-4.
No. 6 Aguilar defeated Lerch in the No. 1 singles match in straight sets, 6-0, 6-4. Reyes completed the No. 3 match over Hendrick, 6-2, 6-2, and Ahlbeck took down Morton, 6-1, 7-6.
Rounding out the match for the Tigers,
Adrian Sabrojo and Mario Belloni each took down their opponents 6-1, 6-1. Sabrojo won over Ottosen while Belloni over Ribbink.
Up next for the Tigers are four consecutive Mid-South Conference matches. Starting the conference competition, Campbellsville will travel to Cumberland University on Wednesday, Mar. 22. The Tigers will then host Lindsey Wilson on Saturday, Mar. 23; University of the Cumberlands on Wednesday, Mar. 29; and University of Pikeville on Thursday, Mar. 30.
