Six All-Conference performers headline the MSC Awards Banquet for men's tennis

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Six Tigers earned First- and Second-Team All Mid-South Conference, officials announced at the annual awards banquet on Saturday afternoon at Bowling Green Country Club.
 
No. 9 Campbellsville had four student-athletes earned First-Team honors – Brendan Aguilar, Victor Ahlbeck, Alejandro Reyes and Adrian Sabrojo. On the second team, CU had a pair of Tigers represented – Mario Belloni and Chrys Castro.
 
In singles this season, Aguilar won all but one and finished the season with a 10-1 record in dual matches. His lone loss of the season came to MSC Player of the Year Denis Porcic of Lindsey Wilson. In doubles, the lone loss for Aguilar and then-teammates Chrys Castro came to No. 2 Kevin Konfederak and Gilad Berman of the top-ranked Grizzlies of Georgia Gwinnett. Aguilar finished with a 14-1 record.
 
Ahlbeck lost only two matches in singles as well and finished with a 14-2 record. In doubles, he ran through the regular season with only one loss and finishing with a 11-1 record.
 
Reyes went 9-5 in singles and teamed up with Sabrojo or Castro all year in doubles, finishing with a 14-2 slate. Sabrojo went 10-3 in singles, while going 11-3 in doubles.
 
On the second team, Belloni joined the Tigers after the first semester and made an immediate impact in the Top 6 as well. He finished the year on a eight-match win streak in singles and five-match streak in doubles.
 
Castro proved to be one of the best doubles partners in the conference, teaming up with Aguilar and Reyes and finishing with only one loss – No. 2 Georgia Gwinnett. He finished the year with a 11-match win streak as well.

Also, Castro and Aguilar finished ranked second in the NAIA in doubles after finishing second at the ITA Small College National Championship in Novemeber.
 
In addition to CU's six student-athletes on the All-Conference teams, Adrian Sabrojo and Alex Spalding received their academic awards with at least 3.25 GPAs.
 
Lindsey Wilson swept the top honors at the banquet – Player of the Year (Denis Porcic), Freshman of the Year (Ivan Solans Diaz), Coach of the Year (Marlon Dal Pont) and the Champions of Character (Tomas Depiaggio).
 
The Tigers earned the No. 2-seed in the MSC Tournament, which is scheduled to start on Sunday. CU will face Shawnee State at 9 a.m. ET for the first round at Kereiakes Park in Bowling Green.
