Box Score MOBILE, Ala. — For the third straight season, Campbellsville men's tennis advanced to the NCCAA Championship Semifinal round after a 5-0 sweep over Dallas Baptist University this morning at Copeland-Cox Tennis Center.
The top-seeded Tigers (23-3) will now play three-seed Warner University on Thursday morning at 10 a.m. ET. Warner University propelled to the semifinal after going through pool play 2-1. The Royals lost to Oklahoma Baptist on Tuesday, 5-1.
In the opposite semifinal bracket, two-seed OBU will play fifth-seed Dallas Baptist University. The Tigers and Oklahoma Baptist are the two lone undefeated teams left in the tournament after going 3-0 in pool play.
Today, it was the Tigers once again sweeping doubles and dominating singles, advancing to the semifinal round.
Chrys Castro and
Alejandro Reyes won 8-3 in No. 1 doubles, while
Brendan Aguilar and
Victor Ahlbeck won 8-1 at No. 2. To finish doubles competition,
Adrian Sabrojo and
Mario Belloni won 9-3 at No. 3.
In singles, four matches were left unfinished with the Tigers leading in three of those. CU earned two points in singles, as Aguilar won 6-2, 6-3 over Cannon Jones. Also, Ahlbeck won 6-2, 6-0 to seal the match.
The Tigers are now playing in the third straight semifinal and are looking for their third NCCAA Championship. As an athletics department as a whole, Campbellsville has three team championships with men's tennis earning two of those.
