CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Director of Athletics
Jim Hardy announced the hiring of
Dylan Ford to both the cross country and track & field programs on Friday.
Ford – who graduated from Campbellsville in 2016 – rejoins the Tiger athletic department, after spending one season as graduate assistant coach for the University of the Cumberlands cross country team.
"Anytime we are able to fill a position with an alumni of that sport it is especially gratifying," said Hardy. "It can't get any better for us than to have someone of the caliber of
Dylan Ford coming back to CU to help lead our cross country program which he helped to lead as one of the competitors to win their first conference championship in 2015.
"Dylan will certainly help head coach
Hilary Lakes continue to build the program and chase after that national championship. Dylan will also share his time with the indoor and outdoor track programs so he will be a great asset to help
Mark Miller and Nathalie Zetrenne as we continue to develop and build the track program."
During his season with the Patriots, he helped coach the women's cross team to a second-place finish at the Mid-South Conference Championship, while the men finished third overall. At the conference championship, Ford helped coach second-place individual finishers Sam Beal and Madison Peace.
Along with helping Cumberlands to a strong meet at the conference championship, Ford helped coach Beal to All-American honors at the national meet, while also having four other student-athletes compete at the NAIA National Championships last year.
While with the Tigers, Ford ran for both the cross country and track & field teams all four seasons at Campbellsville. Ford was a Second Team All-MSC performer during the 2014 cross country season and he capped off his career with second team honors on the 4x800-meter relay team during the 2016 outdoor track & field season.
"I am very excited to be back at Campbellsville University within the athletic department," said Ford. "Having an opportunity to work along side Coach Lakes, Coach Miller , and the athletes of cross country and track & field will be an experience like no other. Both teams have made great strides in improvements and accomplishments, with still having the capability of progressing further. With that in mind, I am eager to help out in any way possible to help bring the program to the next level. Everyone within the athletic department, including the athletes, have been very welcoming of my new position here and I cannot thank them enough for that."
Ford was also a five-time All-MSC Academic honoree and a four-time Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete for the Tigers.
This season, Ford is set to join cross country head coach
Hilary Lakes – who is in her seventh season at the helm cross country program – and new track & field head coach,
Mark Miller.
