CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Campbellsville men's swimming team lost its season opening dual meet to the NCAA Division III Centre College, 178-44, on Saturday.
The Tigers were unable to capture a victory in the dual meet as the Colonels won all 12 events.
Action started with the 200-meter medley relay, where
Tanguy Claisse,
Justin Spalding,
Austin Tucker and
Tucker Hardin finished third with a time of 2:34.29.
Matthew Monday,
Seth Jones,
Josh Provost and
RJ Harris finished just behind in fourth with a time of 2:36.17.
Hardin earned three team points in the 800-meter short course freestyle relay. He completed the race in 10:27.88, while
Alex Meade finished fifth with an 11:23.50.
Eli Barnhill grabbed a third-place individual finish in the 200-meter relay with a mark of 2:26.26 and Tucker notched a 2:37.85 to finish fifth in the event.
In the 50-meter freestyle, Provost recorded one of the three second-place finishes for Campbellsville during the meet after completing the race in 26.59. Harris finished fifth in the race, followed by
Brandon Bagwell in sixth.
Monday and Claisse were the lone Tigers in the 200-meter individual medley field and the duo finished fourth (2:32.08) and fifth (2:39.61), respectively.
Campbellsville's lone relay team in the 200-meter freestyle featured Bagwell, Jones,
Justin Spalding and Provost finishing in 1:49.08 to place third.
Provost then wrapped up his meet in the 100-meter butterfly with a third-place time of 1:07.80. Tucker placed fifth in the event for the Tigers.
Harris recorded the Tigers' second runner-up finish of the day in the 100-meter freestyle finishing in just under a minute. Jones and Spalding rounded out the field in fifth and sixth, respectively.
The final second-place individual finish of the day came in the 100-meter backstroke when Monday finished the event in 1:05.91. Claisse posted a time of 1:08.88, followed by Barnhill finishing in 1:12.85.
Hardin and Meade competed in the 400-meter freestyle finishing in fourth and fifth place. The individual events wrapped up with the 100-meter breaststroke, where Jones placed third, followed by Bagwell in the fifth with times of 1:15.26 and 1:18.18. Spalding rounded out the Tiger individuals with a 1:23.84 in the breaststroke.
Campbellsville finished off its season opening event in the 400-meter freestyle relay. Monday, Claisse, Hardin and Harris posted a time of 4:06.10 to place third.
The Tigers are back in action next Friday and Saturday at the Lindsey Wilson College Fall Frenzy in Columbia, Ky.
