No. 11 Men’s Wrestling set to compete at NWCA-NAIA National Duals on Thursday and Friday

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The No. 11-ranked Campbellsville men's wrestling team beings the NWCA-NAIA National Duals against Mid-South Conference rival and No. 11-ranked Lindsey Wilson College at 9 a.m. ET on Thursday morning.
 
The duals take place on Thursday and Friday at the War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The NWCA is also hosting WCWA, NJCAA, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III dual tournaments.
 
The NAIA double elimination bracket includes 16 teams from across the country with 12 teams ranked in the top 20 of the national poll, while there are also four teams in the field receiving votes.
 
Campbellsville is set to face Lindsey Wilson in the first round of the tournament, where the Tigers and Blue Raiders are tied for 11th overall in the NAIA Men's Wrestling Coaches' Top 20 Poll.
 
Entering the national duals, Campbellsville has posted a record of 4-2 overall and picked up two wins at the Smoky Mountain Duals to wrap the 2017 portion of its season. The Tigers first shutout Central Baptist College, 54-0, and then defeated No. 16 Reinhardt University, 30-8.
 
Campbellsville's trio of Justin Brown, Chuck Sharon and Jaedin Sklapsky have led the way for the Tigers to start the season. Sharon is the No. 1 rated wrestler in the 184-pound weight class and has posted a record of 12-1 overall. In dual competition this season, Sharon has posted a record of 6-0.
 
Both Brown and Sklapsky are ranked No. 2 at 174 and 149 pounds, respectively. Brown is 14-1 on the year and 6-0 in duals. Sklapsky enters 2018 with a mark of 13-0 and won all five of his bouts in dual matches.
 
Jayce Carr (ranked eighth at 141 pounds) and Michael Beets (ranked 17th at 125 pounds) are the final two Tigers ranked individually. Carr won two of his three matches this season, while Beets is an even 4-4 on the season.
 
Lindsey Wilson comes into the national duals with a record of 3-0 overall. The Blue Raiders picked up a pair of MSC victories beating Brewton-Parker College, 44-3, and Life University, 25-12. Brewton-Parker was receiving votes and Life was ranked fifth at the time of the duals. Six Blue Raider grapplers are ranked with Cam Tessari sitting at No. 1 at 157 pounds, while Diorian Coleman (165) and Colton Gonzalez (174) are ranked fifth in the respective weight divisions.
 
Campbellsville will either face top-ranked Grand View University or William Penn University – who is receiving votes – in its second dual of the tournament.
 
Grand View – who has been ranked No. 1 for 42-straight polls – has 12 individuals ranked including the No. 1 grappler at 141 pounds (Josh Wenger) and 165 pounds (Grant Henderson). Eight Viking grapplers are all ranked within the top five of their respective weight classes. Grand View is a perfect 5-0 in duals this season, outscoring the opposition, 184-42.
 
William Penn is 1-2 this season with its lone victory coming over Truman State University, 27-22. The Statesman dropped a 48-0 contest to No. 2 Missouri Valley College. John Altieri is the only wrestler ranked for William Penn, as he is No. 12 in the 125-pound weight class.
 
Campbellsville is 6-3 all-time against Lindsey Wilson and defeated the Blue Raiders at home last season, 20-15. Against Grand View, the Vikings have beat the Tigers in four of the five meetings, while Grand View earned a 30-9 win over Campbellsville at the national duals last season. William Penn and Campbellsville have split its two meetings with the Tigers winning 30-21 in the last contest on Dec. 18, 2011.
 
Competition for Campbellsville beings on Thursday morning at 9 a.m. ET against Lindsey Wilson and the Tigers will be back on the mat at 1 p.m. ET against Grand View or William Penn on Thursday. All duals at the NWCA Multi-Divisional National Duals take place at the War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Ind.
