CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The final week of the regular season begins on Thursday night at 8 p.m. ET as the Campbellsville men's wrestling team travels down Highway 55 to face rival Lindsey Wilson College.
The Tigers enter the week with a record of 7-7 overall and they are 1-2 in Mid-South Conference duals. Campbellsville lost conference contests to No. 4 University of the Cumberlands and No. 8 Southeastern University, while beating Brewton-Parker College.
Coming into the dual on Thursday night, the Tigers took part in the Cumberland University Open last Sunday, where
Jordan Martinez (125),
Kolten Radaz (133) and
Michael Diemer (149) won the individual titles in their respective weight classes.
In the most recent national poll, Campbellsville has five grapplers ranked in the top 20 of the individual rankings.
Chuck Sharon is second at 184 pounds, while
Jaedin Sklapsky (149) and
Justin Brown (174) come in at No. 4 in their respective weight classes.
Jayce Carr is seventh at 141 pounds and Martinez rounds out the Tigers at No. 18 in the 125-pound division.
Lindsey Wilson is entering the dual tied for first in the conference standings with a record of 4-0, while posting a 6-2 mark overall after beating Cumberland on Monday night, 27-12. Seven Blue Raiders are ranked individually with Cam Tessari leading the way with the top spot at 157 pounds. Diorian Coleman is the only other Lindsey Wilson individual ranked in the top five, as he is fourth at 165 pounds.
In the all-time series, the Tigers lead 6-4, but the two teams met earlier this season with the Blue Raiders earning a 21-15 victory in the dual. At the opening dual at the NWCA-NAIA National Duals, Campbellsville only led once through out. After the overall score was tied at 15, the Blue Raiders won the final two matches to win the dual, 21-15.
The final week of the regular season features the Tigers traveling to Lindsey Wilson on Thursday, and then Campbellsville travels to Lebanon, Tennessee to face No. 6 Life University and Cumberland on Saturday afternoon.
