Tiger swimming competes against Mid-South Conference foe Life University on Saturday

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — The Tigers earned an NAIA standard in the 200-meter medley relay but came up just short to Life University on Saturday afternoon, 139-72.

In the 200-meter medley relay, Eli Barnhill, Brandon Bagwell, Dani Zachar and Nick Kessler swam a time of 2:01.09 to beat the NAIA standard by a little over one second.

Zachar also had a second-place finish in the 800-meter freestyle swim with a time of 9:51.47 and a runner-up finish in the 100-meter butterfly with a time of 1:03.62.

The Tigers just missed an NAIA cut in the 200-meter freestyle relay. RJ Harris, Isaiah Harris, Tucker Hardin and Nick Kessler finished with a time of 1:47.80 – which is .47 seconds behind the standard.

Other notable finishes camp in the 200-meter freestyle, as RJ Harris placed second with a time of 2:39.62. Brandon Bagwell placed second in the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:16.47, while Justin Spalding was second in the 200-meter breaststroke at 3:03.97.

"This has been a great team weekend, we had a swim clinic yesterday with local middle and high school swimmers," said coach Casey Smith. "It was a combined effort between Campbellsville and Life University, as we also shared a family meal and movie last night and everyone had a great time together.

"We had good team work today and great racing at this time of the year. It was great to get some racing in at our own pool as well."

The Tigers get back underway as they travel to Asbury University on Friday, Oct. 26. Swimming begins in Wilmore, Ky. at 5:30 p.m. ET.
