Tigers use big run in second half as Evans tallied first double-double over Lindenwood-Belleville

Box Score BELLEVILLE, Ill. — Five Tigers scored in double figures and Campbellsville used a big 25-3 run in the second half to distance itself from Lindenwood-Belleville in a 90-66 win on Saturday afternoon.

Stephaun Adams led the Tigers (4-0) with 18 points, while Andrew Smith had 17 in his Tiger debut after battling early seasoning injuries. Hagen Tyler had 14, while Ronald Taylor had 13 and Deion Evans had 12.

Evans also led the Tigers with 15 rebounds – a career-high and his first double-double in his career.

Tyler's 14 moves him into ninth place in the all-time scoring for CU basketball. He passes Steve Bugg and sits just behind one of the purest shooters in CU history, Marcio Kardosh.

In the first half today, Campbellsville took its first double figure lead of 10 points, 25-15, with 12:24 after a Smith field goal. But the Lynx would rally and cut the lead to one, 25-24, with a 9-0 run.

That was the story of the afternoon. A back and forth affair but the Tigers had the final say. CU never lost the lead again. CU answered right back with another quick run as Smith hit his first 3-pointer of the afternoon and scored a layup to put CU back ahead, 30-24. That lead would remain around 4-8 points throughout the rest of the half until the Tigers sparked a late run.

CU led 34-32 with 4:40 left the Tigers finished the first half as good as they could. CU went on a late 9-2 run that saw baskets from King, Sam Weining, Taylor, and capped with an Adams triple at the 17-second mark.

In the first half, the Tigers hit 7-of-17 from 3-point land and were out-rebounding the Lynx, 23-16. The 3-point shooting and rebounding continued in the second half after the Tigers nailed 13 Edward Jones triples overall.

In the second half, the Tigers came out on fire. CU went on a 6-0 run and push its lead to the largest at that point, 49-34. But then Lindenwood-Belleville answered quickly itself. The Lynx had one final punch and cut the Tigers' lead to six, 52-46, with 14:18 left but Campbellsville countered in a hurry.

The Tigers pushed their lead back to double figures and it never got below the rest of the day. CU went on a huge 25-3 run to lead 77-49 with 6:17 left. During that run the Tigers were 9-of-16 overall, turned the Lynx over six times and hit three Edward Jones 3-pointers.

Campbellsville then cruised the rest of the way.

The Tigers improve to 4-0 on the year and will now return to the Powell Athletic Center on Tuesday to host Alice Lloyd on at 7 p.m. ET. CU will also partner with Sports Reach to host a Stroke Awareness Game on Tuesday. More information will be posted on Monday.
