BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Fall like conditions made for a good start to the post season for the Lady Tigers as they placed sixth at the Mid South Conference earlier this morning.
Mia Rodriguez made history as she placed fifth place and ran a career best time of 19:38.2. She now sits at number five on the all time list for Campbellsville. Rodriguez was only 37 seconds behind the winner, Marissa Smith of Shawnee State who ran a 19:01.3.
In 2010, Amy Etherington and Tawny Vilchis were the last Lady Tigers to qualify for the NAIA National Championships as well as the last all conference runners the team has had. Today, Rodriguez and
Miranda Rzendzian broke that streak. Rodriguez qualified for the NAIA Championships becoming the second individual not from the winning team to cross the line. Rzendzian cross the line filling in the final all conference spot at 14
thplace running a time of 20:13.9.
Freshman
Madeline Rhoads kept the same consistency she has all year as she was mid pack placing 29
thand running a time of 21:18.
Taylor Cox and
Maggie Parrish finished back-to-back for the Lady Tigers today. Cox finished 41
stwith a time of 22:20.6, while Parrish was close behind at 41
strunning a 22:23.1.
Seniors
Julianna Bradley and
Elise Shainfeld ran in the final Mid South Conference Championships this morning. After battling injury all year, Bradley finished the race in 45
thposition and running a time of 22:31.1. Shainfeld finished at 49
thplace and ran a 22:50.2.
Jennifer Maxwell rounded out the lineup for the Lady Tigers as she came in at 53
rdplace with a time of 23:17.9.
Shawnee State remains perfect at the MSC Championships as they won the team title with a point total of 31. They beat out second place Cumberland University who had 44 points. The Lady Tigers finished with 130 points and had a team 1-5 spread of 2:45.
The team will now travel out west of the Mississippi to Missouri for the NCCAA Championships next Saturday.
