Tiger Basketball returns to action Saturday with trip to Lindenwood-Belleville

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – After a week away from game action, Campbellsville men's basketball will head back on the road to take on Lindenwood University–Belleville on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. ET.

Saturday's game will be the third-straight contest away from home but last road game for the Tigers in the month of November. CU takes their 3-0 record into Belleville, Ill. in hopes to continue their winning ways after their first three games.

LAST TIME OUT
Last weekend, the Tigers competed in the Faulkner University Classic where they won both of their games against Voorhees College and Point University.

Against the Tigers of Voorhees, CU won 70-69 on a late tip-in by senior forward Joan Duran after a missed layup by Hagen Tyler. Campbellsville still needed one more stop to clinch the victory as they force Voorhees to take a contested three-pointer that clanged off the rim as the clock hit zero.

The game against Point was all CU from the middle of the first half on their way to a 125-97 victory. The Tigers had a big game from Jacob King who scored a career high 29, along with two other 20-point scorers in Duran (23) and Stephaun Adams (21). Three other Tigers scored in double figures for the game in Deion Evans (14), Hagen Tyler (12) and Ronald Taylor (11).

SCOUTING LINDENWOOD-BELLEVILLE
The Lynx have started the season 0-2 with losses against Lincoln College (77-68) on Nov. 3 and against No. 16 University of the Cumberlands (84-49) on Nov. 5. Lindenwood-Belleville as only averaged 58.5 points per game but are only allowing 44.7 percent shooting from the field from their opponents.

DOUBLE-DOUBLE PARTY
Over the last weekend at the Faulkner Classic, the Tigers recorded four total double-doubles in the two games. First coming from from Joan Duran against Voorhees where he recorded 15 points and 11 rebounds. Then CU had three players with a double-double against Point as Duran recorded his second straight with 23 points and 10 rebounds, Deion Evans had his first career double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds and Stephaun Adams also had his first as a Tiger with 23 points and 10 assists.

THE KING OF KINGS
Sophomore guard Jacob King had himself a day last Saturday against Point, scoringa  career-high 29 points to lead the way for CU. He also put up career highs in field goals (11) and three pointers made (7) as the Louisville, Ky. native had oen of the best shooting nights of his young CU career. 24 of King's 29 points came in the second half, propelling the Tigers to their 125-97 win.

QUALITY EARLY IMPRESSIONS
Two new additions to the Tiger roster lead the team in key categories early on in the 2018-19 season. Stephaun Adams leads the team in points per game with 20.3 and total assists with 17. Joan Duran leads the team in rebounding early on with 9 boards per game and has two double-doubles on the year, more than any other Tiger.

TOP TEN FOR TYLER
Senior Guard Hagen Tyler entered the top-10 in scoring all-time in CU history in the season opener against Kentucky Christian. Tyler passed Jeff Gumm (1980-84), on his 10th point Monday and finished the night moving his career point total to 1,383. Tyler has a legitimate chance at reaching top-five in CU history for points, needing to reach 1,724 after averaging over 450 points per season in his first three seasons.

NEARING THE TOP 25
CU's Tigers begin this season exactly where they ended last season in the NAIA Coaches Poll, receiving votes. Campbellsville earned 20 points in the preseason poll, released on Oct. 23, with only three teams outside of the top-25 receiving more votes than the Tigers. CU will hope to break into the top-25 within the first in-season poll much like they did last year when they went 10-1 to move into the 21st spot.

EARLY HOME COOKING
Outside of their exhibition game against Western Kentucky on Oct. 30, CU will play seven of their first 10 games through the month of November at home at the Powell Athletic Center. Four of those games will be played as part of two CU hosted tournaments, the Lou Cunningham Classic (Nov. 16-17) and the Campbellsville Classic (Nov. 23-24).

HOME GAMES ON CU SPORTS NETWORK
All Tiger basketball home games will be streamed on the CU Sports Network on campbellsvilletigers.com as well as the home games in the Mid-South Conference schedule being aired on WLCU-TV. Even if anyone won't be able to make it out to the Powell Athletic Center for CU home games, you can watch the Tigers play all of their home games for free on our athletics website. New this season on the CU Sports Network will be the inclusion of four-camera broadcasts as we attempt to bring a more in-depth, professional broadcast feel to basketball games during the 2018-19 season.

DEEP MID-SOUTH CONFERENCE
Though the Tigers have the 28th most points in the NAIA coaches poll, four Mid-South Conference teams rank ahead of them in the preseason. Campbellsville was also picked to tie for fourth in the MSC by the Mid-South coaches in their preseason poll, tying with Lindsey Wilson with 29 points and behind Georgetown (47), Pikeville (45) and Cumberlands (34). The three teams ahead of CU and Lindsey Wilson are also all in the top 25 in the NAIA to start the season as Georgetown is ranked 4th, Pikeville is ranked 8th, Cumberlands is ranked 16th and Lindsey Wilson barely sneaked into the top 25 at 25th.

TOURNAMENT SEASON
Early season college basketball means tournaments, both on the road and at home for the Tigers. Including last week's Faulkner Classic, CU will host two of their own tournaments in November and travel to two more in December during non-conference play.

UP NEXT
After Saturday's game, the Tigers will come home to play their next seven games at home starting with Alice Lloyd College on Tuesday, Nov. 13.
