Game Recap: Women's Basketball | | Jordan Alves

Doram passes 1,000-career points while Lady Tigers win over Mobile, 75-66

MOBILE, Ala. — Jordan Doram needed 15 points to reach 1,000 for her career and she got 23 tonight in the Lady Tigers 75-66 win over the University of Mobile.

Doram was a beast in the paint and solidified her name as Big Fella by backing down opponents with the drop-step and buckets. She finished with 23 points to lead the Lady Tigers, while Madison Faulkner scored 21 off the bench.

Caitlin Hall was credited with 10 assists – which is the fourth game this season she's recorded 10+ dimes in a game. She leads the NAIA by average 7.3 assists per game.

Campbellsville's (13-2) night started strong but cooled in the third quarter and allowed Mobile (3-9) to get back into the game. After leading 23-10 at the end of the opening quarter and 39-22 at halftime, the Lady Tigers extended their lead to as large as 22 midway through the third frame.

Mobile then rallied the troops and stepped up its pressure. The Rams forced a couple turnovers and hit two 3-pointers to spark a 10-0 run and cut the deficit to 12, 56-44 with 1:43 left in the third. But Madison Kaiser splashed a 3-pointer with a couple seconds on the clock to extend the Lady Tigers lead back to 15, 61-46, to cap a mini run.

The fourth quarter was a knockdown drag out. Mobile cut the lead to six points twice, but the Lady Tigers held strong. With 2:36 left in the game, Doram earned an old-fashioned 3-point play to spark CU and the defense is what stepped up at the end.

With a little over 2:00 left and the Lady Tigers ahead by eight, Mobile called a timeout to reset its offense against the Lady Tiger twilight zone defense they have played all night. But head coach Ginger High Colvin switched to a high-pressured man-to-man defense out of the timeout and the Rams didn't know what to do with the pressure, turning the ball over.

That sparked the Lady Tigers at the end. CU was able to pull multiple offensive rebounds down in the final 90 seconds and hit timely free throws to secure the nine-point win.

Official stats were not provided, but by our books the Lady Tigers were led by Doram's 23 and Faulkner's 21. Kaiser finished with 11 points, while Stewart had seven, Gregory had four, and the Lake Twins – Lexy Lake and Faith Lake – both hit 3-pointers to finish with four and three points, respectively.

The Lady Tigers have Sunday off before heading to Montgomery, Ala. For a matchup with an NAIA national tournament program, Faulkner University. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET on Monday, Dec. 31. Air time starts at 1:45 on the CU Sports Network.
