KINGSPORT, Tenn. – Campbellsville's men's swimming team scored 43 points and sits in sixth place after the first day of action at the Mid-South Conference Championships in the Kingsport Aquatics Center.
Forty-two of the Tigers' points on day one came from the two relay events.
Campbellsville picked up 20 points in the 200-yard medley relay with the quartet of
Matthew Monday,
Seth Jones,
Josh Provost and
RJ Harris finishing fifth with a time of 1:40.22 to improve of their national standard.
The first day of action concluded with the Tigers placing fourth in the 800-yard freestyle relay with time of 7:33.06. Harris, Monday, Provost and
Tucker Hardin placed fourth overall.
Jones hit the bonus standard in the 200-yard individual medley after placing 11th with a time of 2:02.65 to qualify for the B finals. Monday placed 18th overall with a time of 2:08.01. In the B finals of the event, Jones placed 12th overall after notching a time of 2:01.87 to improve on his bonus standard time.
Hardin and
Alex Meade represented the Tigers in the 500-yard freestyle prelims, where Hardin finished just outside the top 12 to qualify for the finals with a time of 5:12.46 to place 14th. Meade finished 17th after notching a time of 5:26.62.
Provost just missed out on the B finals in the 50-yard freestyle after placing 14th with time of 22.33. Provost's time also hit the national B standard. Harris finished in 23.06 to place 22nd,
Justin Spalding swam a 23.76 and
Brandon Bagwell finished in 24.71 as the Tiger pair placed 33rd and 35th.
Austin Tucker also competed in the event and finished 39th with a time of 25.70.
University of the Cumberlands wraps up day one in first place with 154 points and Lindenwood University-Belleville is second with 115 points.
Day two of the championships begin at 10 a.m. ET with prelims and finals at 5 p.m. ET.
