No. 12 Lady Tiger softball adds road doubleheader at Centre College on Tuesday

DANVILLE, Ky. — With a break in the weather this week, Lady Tiger softball is taking full advantage of 70 degrees and clear skies by adding a road doubleheader at Centre College on Tuesday, Feb. 20.

Campbellsville (2-0) and Centre (2-2) are scheduled for a doubleheader starting at 5 p.m. ET. Fans can follow the action starting at 4:45 p.m. on the CU Sports Network – www.campbellsvilletigers.com/watch.

Campbellsville is coming off a season opening sweep over Calumet College of St. Joseph on Sunday afternoon, 16-6 and 11-0.

Alexis Smith finished with four hits on the day and drove in a team-leading five runs. Jacqueline Roof totaled five hits – two in game one and three more in game two. Roof also scored six runs and drove in three herself to earn Mid-South Conference Player of the Week honors.

Ryley Whitney and Rebecca Miller also had big days at the plate. Whitney went 3-for-5 in her collegiate debut with a run scored and two RBI. Miller backed her up by going 3-for-6 with two RBI.

Neely Quint (1-0) and Morgan Gailor (1-0) both had stellar games in the circle. In game one, Quint allowed five hits, and one earned run while striking out four. In game two, Gailor allowed just one hit, a single in the second inning, and cruised the rest of the way. She finished tossing five innings, walked one and struck out four of the 16 batters she faced enroute to being named the MSC Pitcher of the Week for the first time.

Centre College, which is now opening its home schedule on Tuesday, enters the week with a 2-2 record. The Colonels opened the season last week with a 11-3 victory over Piedmont University but fell 2-0 to Greensboro and 10-3 to Pfeiffer College. Centre ended the road trip with a 4-3 win over Greensboro.

Charlotte Mabbs leads the team by hitting .556 in the first four games. She went 5-for-9 last week, while Abigail Harper went 6-for-12 and drove in three runs.

In the circle, Erika Brewer earned both wins by throwing a combined 12 innings and allowed four earned runs and striking out five. She did allow 18 hits in those 12 innings and opponents are hitting .375 off her so far this season. McKinley Rush started the other two games butt allowed eight earned runs in 5.1 innings.

Campbellsville is still scheduled to host Lawrence Tech and Midway University later in the week but changes could occur. Stay tuned to www.campbellsvilletigers.com for up-to-date information.
