Lady Tiger Basketball returns to Powell Athletic Center to complete home schedule this week

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — With two regular season games remaining, Lady Tiger basketball sits in second place of the Mid-South Conference standings and has a tough road ahead to stay in that position. No. 3 Campbellsville, which leads No. 10 Lindsey Wilson by a full-game in the standings, is hosting Cumberland University on Thursday night and the Blue Raiders on Saturday to close out MSC play.

Campbellsville (24-4) is coming in after earning a road split with No. 1 Shawnee State and University of Pikeville last week. The Lady Tigers enter Thursday night after winning nine straight over Cumberland University, while Campbellsville is 10-3 against the Phoenix in the Ginger Colvin era.
 
Cumberland enters Thursday sitting in fourth place in the MSC standings after winning its past three contests over Pikeville, Life and Cumberlands. The Phoenix are currently two games ahead of Pikeville but has at least solidified the No. 4-seed in the MSC Tourney.
 

Series Facts:
  • CU and Cumberland are meeting for the 35th time. The Lady Tigers lead the overall series 30-4.
  • Campbellsville has won the previous nine games - with three of those victories by four points or less.
  • In the Ginger Colvin and Jeremy Lewis eras, Campbellsville holds a 10-3 edge in the series.
  • Both teams have met only once in the postseason, with Cumberland winning its first MSC champion- ship, 59-46, in the 2012-13 year - its first year as a conference member since moving to the Trans South Conference after the 2001-02 season.

Last Time Out vs. Cumberland
  • CU shot lights out in first 20 minutes of action as it finished hitting 69.2 percent from the  floor and 88.9 percent from three en route to an 82-63 victory.
  • The Lady Tigers started the game shooting just 2-for-7 from the floor, but closed the first half making 16-of-19 shots – highlighted by going 9-for- 10 in the second quarter.
  • Madison Kaiser led all scorers with a career-high 19 points against the Phoenix. Kaiser  finished 7-for- 9 from the  floor and 4-for-4 beyond the arc. Jordan Doram chipped in with 15 points and Madison Faulkner recorded 14 points, with 12 coming in the second half. Lauren Turner notched six assists and Savannah Gregory  finished with a career-high five assists.
Shawnee State claims MSC Regular Season Title
  • Shawnee State claimed the Mid-South Conference regular season championship after its 87-52 win over Georgetown on Saturday. 
  • The Bears won their third-straight regular season title and fourth overall. The Bears are currently the top team in the NAIA with a 25-3 record overall and 12-0 in the MSC. 
  • Shawnee State hasn't lost a game since November, 18 and is riding a 20-game winning streak, the longest in the country. The Bears are looking to go undefeated in conference play with games against Cumberlands and Life this week. 
  • Shawnee State is ranked in the top five nationally in several categories. The Bears are No. 2 in scoring offense per game (81.71) and scoring margin (26.14), third in three-point field goal percentage defense (23.2), fourth in assist/turnover ratio (1.17) and fifth infield goal percentage defense (33.4).
  • The MSC Tournament Quarter finals begin on Thursday, March 1 in Pikeville, Ky.

  • CU has two games remaining on its schedule, vs. Cumberland University on Thursday and Senior Day on Saturday vs. Lindsey Wilson College.
  • The Lady Tigers have a one-game lead over Lindsey Wilson in the MSC standings with a 10-2 record.
  • Shawnee State clinched the regular season on Saturday after defeating Georgetown College, 87-52.
  • Madison Faulkner has come alive as of late, averaging 18.5 points in the last seven games.
  • Savannah Gregory leads the MSC by averaging 3.1 steals per game - which ranks No. 7 in the NAIA. Her 85 total swipes are third in the country.

  • The 24 wins is tied for fourth-most in the NAIA along with Science and Arts. Freed-Hardeman and Shawnee State have 25 wins, while LSU Shreveport holds a 27-1 record.
  • After returning from an ankle injury, Madison Clements has struggled to get her offensive game back, totaling 14 points in four games.
  • Madison Clements scored her 1,000th-point vs. ‚ Georgetown College on Jan. 6 - marking her the 34th Lady Tiger to join the 1,000-point Club.
  • In true road games this season, the Lady Tigers finished the regular season with an 8-1 record.
