Lady Tiger softball opens altered home schedule on Thursday and Friday

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — After another crazy week of bad weather, newly-ranked No. 4 Campbellsville softball is finally playing a game at home. The Lady Tigers are scheduled to host four non-conference games on Wednesday and Thursday vs. Hiwassee College and Point Park University.

Campbellsville hosts Hiwassee on Wednesday with a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m. ET and the Lady Tigers turn around on Thursday to host the Pioneers at 11 a.m. ET for another two-game set.

All four games will be streamed live on the CU Sports Network – www.campbellsvilletigers.com/watch.

Campbellsville enters the week with a 14-3 record and moved to No. 4 in the NAIA Coaches' Poll, which was announced on Tuesday. The ranking is the highest since CU spent five straight weeks in 2016 at No. 4.

CU was one of five ranked programs last weekend to finish 4-1 at the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Columbus, Ga. Senior pitcher Neely Quint led CU with three wins and a save in the circle to earn NFCA All-Tournament Team honors.

Quint has started her senior campaign on a high note. She's tossed 62.2 innings, allowed 52 hits and 15 earned runs for an ERA of 1.68. In addition, opponents are hitting just .216 and she leads CU with 42 strikeouts. Her 10-0 record ranks No. 3 in the NAIA.

Offensively, CU is led by freshman Ryleigh Oldham's .383 average, five home runs and 18 RBI – which is second on the team. Oldham also has seven doubles and a triple to slug .894 to start her career.

Tori Humphrey and Alexis Smith are both hitting .364 with 20 hits in 55 at bats. The duo also has four home runs, while Humphrey leads CU with 19 RBI and Smith is third with 15.

Campbellsville has out-scored opponents 124-50 in the first 17 games of the season and the Lady Tigers are averaging 7.2 runs per game. Overall, the Lady Tigers are hitting .314 as a team and the pitching staff is holding opponents to hitting just .241.

Overall, CU ranks ninth with 0.9 home runs per game and the pitching staff ranks 12th with a team-ERA of 1.7.

According to Hiwassee's website, the Tigers are 2-6 overall but results have not been posted since Feb. 23. Hiwassee had 13 games on the schedule from Feb. 23 to this matchup on March 15.

Point Park enters the week with a 3-5 record. The Pirates are playing a pair of games at Lindsey Wilson on Tuesday before heading across Highway 55 for the doubleheader with the Lady Tigers.

The Pirates, who has been out-scored 24-21 in the first eight games, are led by Kim Corcoran's .400 batting average. PPU has only 16 RBI on the season with Amber Cook leading the way with three.
