GEORGETOWN, Ky. – Campbellsville's men's tennis team finished up play at the ITA Southeast Regional Championships on Sunday with one singles competitor and a doubles tandem each reaching the semi-finals of their brackets.
Senior
Blayze O'Keefe won his first three matches of the tournament, 6-0, 6-4 over Luis Hartkopf, 6-2, 6-4 over Yaroslav Hnatusko and 6-4, 6-0 over Michael Gutu before falling to Luis Castellon 6-3, 6-3.
The doubles pair of
Adrian Sabrojo and
Will True advanced to the semi-finals of the doubles bracket after winning three matches. Sabrojo and True won their first match 8-2, their second match 8-1 and their third match 9-7 before dropping their semi-final match 8-4.
Other singles results from the ITA Regional saw
Martin Munoz win his first match 6-1, 6-1 before falling 7-5, 6-2; Sabrojo won two matches, 6-0, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-0 before falling in the quarterfinal 6-1,6-2; Mehdi Bichri,
Alberto Perez and True all dropped their opening round match.
In doubles, O'Keefe teamed with
Matus Sevcik to win a pair of matches 8-6 before falling in the quarterfinals 8-3. The third of three Campbellsville pairs in the doubles bracket were Munoz and Bichri, who lost their opening round match 8-4.
The next time the Tiger men's tennis team will play this fall will be in October when they compete in the University of Louisville invitational from Oct. 19-21.
