Tigers begin year ranked No. 9 in NAIA Men's Coaches Top 25 Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The NAIA National Office announced the 2019 Men's Tennis Coaches' Preseason Top 25 Poll and Campbellsville University comes in ranked No. 9.
 
The Tigers earned 274 votes from the national raters after going 20-7 last season. 
 
Campbellsville is one of four programs from the Mid-South Conference ranked in the Top 25, while another is receiving votes. 
 
Lindsey Wilson leads the way at No. 6, while Cumberland University is one spot ahead of Campbellsville at No. 8. University of the Cumberlands rounds out the Top 25, while Georgetown received four votes. 
 
Georgia Gwinnett begins the 2019 campaign atop the NAIA Men's Tennis Preseason Coaches' Top 25 Poll. The Grizzlies, winners of five-consecutive national titles, received all 14 first-place votes. The Grizzlies are in the midst of an 82-match winning streak, which remains the longest active winning streak in all levels of college sports.
 
The preseason poll looks almost identical to the final poll of the 2018 season, with the top 13 teams in that poll maintaining the same ranking in this poll.
 
New to the poll – compared to the final poll of 2018 – is Marian University at No. 23. No. 3 Xavier University extends the longest consecutively-active streak in the poll with 96 straight appearances. Westmont, ranked 17th to start the season, is second with 82 straight polls.
 
The Tigers are scheduled to start their 2019 season on the road at Brescia University on Saturday, Feb. 9.
