Tiger volleyball heads to Illinois for NCCAA Invitational on Friday and Saturday

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The first of four regular season tournaments for Campbellsville men's volleyball will begin Friday as the Tigers head to Palos Heights, Ill. for the NCCAA Invitational.
 
CU will face Maranatha Baptist University at 5:00 p.m. ET on Friday then will take on Bluefield College at 9:00 p.m. ET later that night. Saturday at noon ET they will face the hosts Trinity Christian College before the final round where the Tigers will play in either the Championship game, third place, fifth place or seventh places matches.
 
So far, the Tigers have started 0-3 after losses to NCAA DII teams Lincoln Memorial University and Belmont Abbey College, as well as a loss to NAIA No. 4 Missouri Baptist.
 
The Sabercats of Maranatha Baptist have only played one match so far with a 3-0 loss to St. Xavier on Jan. 18. MBU scored only 11 kills in that match with Rory Massey earning the most kills with three in the match.
 
The Rams of Bluefield are 1-2 so far in the season with losses against Lees-McRae and Fontbonne University. Their win came in a 3-0 sweep against Cumberland University on Jan. 18. BC's Alberto Chiaparini leads them early on in kills with 18 so far in their three matches.
 
The Trolls of Trinity Christian are an undefeated 2-0 this season with wins against Goshen College and Cardinal Stritch University. Five TCC players have double-digit kills in two games led by Dan Ryan with 24 followed by 19 from Djordje Novakovic, 18 from Jake Ostema, 13 from Ben Tocila and 11 from Jonathan Poortinga.
 
The Tigers are the second-ranked team in the Invitational behind Ottawa University Arizona as the No. 1 seed. CU will look for their first wins before they host the Campbellsville University Invitational next weekend.
