Tigers set to host home opener in three-match weekend for Campbellsville University Invitational

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – After playing their first seven matches away from Campbellsville and earning their first wins of the season last week, CU men's volleyball will host three teams to take part in the Campbellsville University Invitational this Friday and Saturday.
 
Missouri Baptist University, St. Andrew University and Cincinnati Christian University will all take part in six total matches that will take place in Gosser Gymnasium between Friday and Saturday.
 
Friday will have two matches, first with CCU and SAU playing at 4 p.m. ET followed by CU and MBU at 7 p.m. ET. Saturday, each team will play twice with Missouri Baptist and St. Andrew starting things off at 10 a.m. followed by CU and St. Andrews at 1 p.m., Missouri Baptist and Cincinnati Christian at 4 p.m. and Campbellsville and Cincinnati Christian at 7 p.m. to close out the busy day.
 
The Tigers are coming off of a runner-up finish at the NCCAA Invitational last week where they only dropped one set before the championship game. They earned a 3-1 win over Maranatha Baptist and 3-0 wins over Bluefield College and Trinity Christian College in pool play to earn a spot in the championship match against Ottawa University Arizona. The Spirit were able to earn a 3-0 sweep win over the Tigers to win the championship.
 
The Spartans of Missouri Baptist are the No. 4 team in the NAIA Coaches' Poll and undefeated at 5-0 so far this season. MBU and Campbellsville already met once this season as the Spartans won 3-1 in St. Louis in their second match of the year and the third for the Tigers.
 
The Knights of St. Andrews are the No. 10 team in the NAIA Coaches' Poll and 2-2 so far this season with losses to No. 3 Lourdes University and Coker College. SAU has wins against Robert Morris College and Lawrence Technological University.
 
The Eagles of Cincinnati Christian have only played one time this season, losing to Erskine College on Jan. 18 in three sets then having their Jan. 30 match against No. 3 Lourdes University cancelled.
 
After the Campbellsville University Invitational, the Tigers will get back on the road to play a pair of matches at Life University against the Running Eagles then another match against St. Andrews.
