Lady Tigers seek 11th-straight win over Cumberland University on Thursday

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Mid-South Conference play started with a double-figure win over rival Georgetown College and it continues on Thursday night at Cumberland University travels to Tiger Town.
 
The seventh-ranked Lady Tigers are hosting the Phoenix at 6 p.m. ET in the Powell Athletic Center. Fans can tune into the CU Sports Network starting at 5:45 for coverage at the links above.
 
Campbellsville enters the week with a 15-2 record and 1-0 inside Mid-South Conference play after beating Georgetown College, 78-64, to open conference play. Cumberland University dropped its conference opener to Lindsey Wilson, 78-56, and fell to 4-9 overall. 
 

Series Facts:
  • Campbellsville and Cumberland are meeting for the 36th time. The Lady Tigers lead the overall series 31-4.
  • LTB has won the previous 10 games - with three of those victories by four points or less.
  • Ginger High Colvin and Coach Scott Blum are meeting for the first time.
  • Thursday marks the first game since the 2010 season 2009-10 season the Phoenix haven't had Jeremy Lewis on the sideline as the head coach. He's now coaching the men's team.
  • Both teams have met only once in the postseason, with Cumberland winning its first MSC championship, 59-46, in the 2012-13 year - its first year as a conference member since moving to the Trans South Conference after the 2001-02 season.
  • That win for Cumberland in 2013 is also the last win for the Phoenix in the series.
  • Since the Phoenix re-entered the conference, the Lady Tigers lead the series 10-3.

Scouting Cumberland:
  • The Phoenix have struggled this season under first-year head coach Scott Blum with a 4-9 record.
  • Cumberland won its first game of the year against Oakwood but then lost six-straight games - all but two were by double-figures.
  • Cumberland has won two of its last three games - the loss came to Lindsey Wilson on Saturday, 78-56.
  • Led in scoring by Carli Codner-Pinto's 13 points per game, she does it all for CU.
  • She also leads the team in steals per game (1.1), 3-point percentage (33%) and played the most minutes on the team (27).
  • The key stat for Codner-Pinto is the turnovers. She's dished out only 19 assists and turned the ball over 36.
  • The Phoenix turn the ball over a lot -- 252 to be exact - with only 139 assists.
  • That's the opposite for Campbellsville, 363 assists compared to 271 turnovers.
