WILMINGTON, Ohio – Friday evening, the Lady Tigers participated in the Jenna Strong Classic hosted by Wilmington College.
Through a field of 33 teams and 316 total runners, Campbellsville was able to pull out an eighth place finish, behind four top 50 finishers.
The usual suspect,
Hailey Stallings led the way for the Lady Tigers, as she used a 19:05.6 to finish in 15
th place overall. In a field, heavily stacked with NCAA and NAIA competitors, Stallings was third finisher out of the NAIA opponents, narrowly trailing Marissa Smith from Shawnee State.
Mia Rodriguez was the next to finish as she was the lone Lady Tiger to improve on last week's performance. Rodriguez was able to put together a 19:43.8 for 38
th overall.
Gabriella Velez and
Miranda Rzendzian were able to finish two seconds and two spots apart in 45
th and 47
th. Velez led Rzendzian with a 20:06.3, where Rzendzian closely trailed.
Hailey Shank was able to round out the top five for Campbellsville finishing in 69
th with a 20:31.4. Shank's place closed out the scoring for CU at 207 points.
In the sixth and seventh spots for the Lady Tigers were
Ashlyn Elmore and
Maggie Parrish. Elmore barely missed breaking the 21-minute barrier, finishing in 21:07.2, for 106
th place. Parrish followed thirty seconds later for 130
th.
Also participating in the meet for Campbellsville were
Olivia Napier (21:45.4),
Abigail Coleman (22:59.4), and
Jennifer Maxwell (23:00.1).
The Lady Tigers were able to average a 19:56 for 207 points and eighth place overall. They were also second out of the NAIA participants. Ohio State used a score of 41 to win the meet overall.
CU faced off against four MSC opponents, only falling to the 19
th Shawnee State Bears.
Campbellsville will now have 15 days before they travel to Grand Rapids to participate in the NAIA Great Lakes Challenge on October 26
th.
