MARIETTA, Ga. – On Saturday, Tiger swimming visited Life University as they were able to pick up their first win of the 2019-20 season.
In a dual meet against the Running Eagles, Campbellsville was able to outscore Life 118 to 113 to capture their first victory.
The Tigers started the meet on a strong note recording wins in the first three events of the day. The day began with CU using a relay team of
Noah Ackermann,
Justin Spalding,
Sebastian Escobar, and
RJ Harris pulled the Tigers to a 1:44.09 in the 200-yard medley to defeat Life by .7 seconds.
Collin McGuire was then able to record his first win of the day as he swam a 10:24.3 in the 1,000-yard freestyle. McGuire was also able finish second in the 200-yard butterfly and third in the 100-yard butterfly. These performances helped him contribute 16 points to the Tiger victory.
Escobar continued his stellar season as he was able to swim a 1:47.68 to win the 200-yard freestyle. In the event,
Tucker Hardin followed with a runner up performance. Escobar also recorded a win in the 500-yard freestyle, recording a personal best and winning the event by 35 seconds.
Hardin was also able to score nine points in the 50-yard freestyle as he won the event with a 23.92. Hardin was joined in the 50-yard freestyle by
Nick Kessler (24.19) in second,
Brandon Bagwell (25.98) in fourth, and
Micah Lauer (26.93) in fifth.
The final Tiger event winner came as Ackermann put together a four second season best, recording a 2:09.21 in the 200-yard individual medley. Ackermann also helped CU to four more points in the 100-yard backstroke finishing second in 59.83, followed by Kessler who placed third, finishing one second later.
Campbellsville put together an all-around solid team performance, defeated Life in a close MSC battle.
The Tigers will face off against Life once again on Friday in the Powell Athletic Center.
