CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Friday evening, Tiger swimming opened the home portion of their 2019-20 schedule as they hosted Centre College in a home dual meet.
The highlights for the Tigers came as three Tigers were able to notch four school record marks in the competition.
Sebastian Escobar Fonseca led the way as he was able to break both the 200 free and 400 freestyle records. Picking up wins in each of these events, Fonseca recorded times of 2:01.24 and 4:18.2 to add his name to the record board.
Fonseca also participated in the Tiger's 200 medley relay with
Noah Ackermann,
Justin Spalding, and
RJ Harris that led Campbellsville to a second place finish in 1:57.75.
Ackermann was also able to make his way onto the list of records as he used a 1:14.07 to record a second place finish in the 100-meter breaststroke. Ackermann was joined in the event by
Justin Spalding and
Brandon Bagwell who recorded times of 1:17.7 and 1:20.13 for fourth and fifth place finishes.
On the day, Ackermann was also able to record a win in the 200 IM with a 2:28.11.
Collin McGuire earned his school record in the 800 freestyle, using a 9:06.6 for a win in the event. McGuire was also able to earn a win in the 100 butterfly in 1:03.61, and runner-up in the 400 freestyle.
Overall, Centre College was able to out duel Campbellsville 115-84, but the Tigers used smart racing to attack their events, which helped result in the four school record marks.
The Tigers will return to action on October 19
th as they visit Life University for a battle inside the Mid-South Conference.
