Lady Tigers look to begin journey to Gulf Shores Friday afternoon

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Lady Tigers look to begin their path to Gulf Shores Friday afternoon as they open the NAIA Tournament against Southern Oregon at 2 p.m. ET.
 
The Lady Tigers were one of 19 at-large selection as they will play in the Hattiesburg, Mississippi Opening Round Bracket with William Carey the host. 
 
LAST TIME OUT
  • After entering the MSC Tournament and final NAIA Coaches' poll in the receiving votes category, CU was outed early in the MSC tournament, falling to Cumberland University, 2-1.
  • The Lady Tigers were able to defeat the Phoenix in the final match of the regular season but were unsuccessful in the tournament as Danisha Brown and Carla Hager were able to score the Phoenix goals.
  • Molly Hall got Campbellsville on the board early with a seventh minute goal assisted by Lakin Walls. However, that was all the Lady Tigers wrote, playing the final 83 minutes without finding the back of the net.
 
JOURNEY TO THE GULF
  • As CU heads south for this opening round matchup, they will look to do so against in two weeks, as the winners of the opening round brackets will move to the NAIA Championships on Dec. 2ndin Orange Beach.
  • To get there, Campbellsville's journey will begin with the matchup with Southern Oregon Friday afternoon.
  • With a win, Campbellsville will advance to William Carey, who was given the overall number one seed in the tournament.
  • The team to move on from the Hattiesburg, Mississippi Opening Round bracket will meet Mobile, Ala. who received an automatic bid to the NAIA Championships as they serve as the host site.
 
SCOUTING THE RAIDERS
  • Southern Oregon will be making their first NAIA Tournament appearance after going 11-5-3 this season. 
  • Like the Lady Tigers, the Raiders made their way to the opening round with an at-large bid after falling in PKs in the semifinal of the Cascade Collegiate Conference tournament semifinal.
  • Southern Oregon has been led by Baylee Touey who leads the team in goals (8), shots (37), and shots on goal (21).
  • As a team, the Raiders ran 13thwith 11 shutouts on the season.
  • This season, Southern Oregon has three wins over NAIA top 25 teams.
 
LADY TIGER TOURNAMENT HISTORY
  • The 12-5 Lady Tigers are making their second NAIA Tournament appearance after their first came in 2015.
  • In the 2015 tournament CU was able to with the Opening Round Championship after a 5-0 win over Ashford University.
 
CU BY THE NUMBERS
  • The Lady Tigers have statistically put together one of the top offenses in the country as they rank seventh in shots per game (23.24) and shots on goal per game (11.94) and eleventh in goals per game (3.71).
  • CU has been led by Jessie Bryson and Molly Hall who have been able to notch ten goals each.
  • Sangmin Cha has been able to set up a good portion of these goals with eight assists on the season, ranking her fourth for the most assists in a single season for CU.
 
Given a win, the Lady Tigers will advance to meet the overall number one seed William Carey on Saturday, at 2 p.m. ET.
