SEWANEE, Tn. – Friday evening, the Tiger swim team concluded day one of the Igloo Invite behind a meet record from
Sebastian Escobar.
In the 500-yard freestyle, Escobar was able to put together a time of 4:38.60 to win the event by eight seconds and mark a new meet record set in 2016.
Escobar also helped the Tiger 800-yard freestyle to third and the 200 yard freestyle relay and 400 yard medley relay to fourth place finishes.
The team of
RJ Harris,
Tucker Hardin,
Collin McGuire, and Escobar worked together for a 7:18.62 in the 800-yard freestyle.
The 200-yard freestyle began the day for CU as the team of Escobar, Harris,
Nick Kessler and Hardin were able to mark a 1:31.85.
Kessler and Escobar also participated on the 400-yard medley team along with
Justin Spalding and
Collin McGuire swim a 3:46.55 for fourth as well.
Individually, McGuire was able to capitalize on a performance in the 1650-yard freestyle (16:50.34) and fourth place finish in the 200-yard IM (2:04.38).
Noah Ackermann was able to follow McGuire in the 200 IM swimming a 2:10.36, improving his mark by three seconds from the preliminaries.
In the 100-yard breaststroke, Spalding was able to work his way to the finals tomorrow, swimming a 1:03.77.
The Tigers will enter day two with 226 points in fourth place. Asbury currently leads the team rankings with 411 points.
Campbellsville will be back in the pool tomorrow to close the invitation.
