COLUMBIA, Ky. – Prior to the start of the quarter final round of the Mid-South Conference Tournament, the MSC released their 2019 All-Conference Awards at the banquet earlier this evening.
The conference awards including MSC All-Conference Teams, Academic All-Conference, Champions of Character Team, as well as the Player and Coach of the Year awards.
The Lady Tigers led all teams in the conference with five selections to the First Team All-Conference Team. In the selection, Lady Tiger defenders
Jordan Stallings and
Naia Landaluce, as well as midfielder,
Sangmin Cha were named to their first MSC All-Conference team.
Stallings and Landaluce helped lead the Lady Tiger defense to only allowing 11 goals all season. On the year, CU was able to put together nine total shutouts ranking 19
thin the NAIA in shutouts per game as they blanked the opponent in 56% of their games this season. The pair were also able to jump into the scoring column on a few occasions as they have three goals each.
Cha earned her selection as she led the CU with eight assists on the season. Cha's assist numbers were able enough to rank third in the Mid-South Conference. Her eight assists also place her fourth all-time on Campbellsville's single season assist record board.
Forwards
Molly Hall and
Lakin Walls were also selected to first team honors for the second time in their careers.
The combo attack of Hall and Walls proved to be stifling for competitors all season as they helped lead the Lady Tiger offense to 62 goals on the year. Their consistent presence allowed the Lady Tigers to continually put together offensive opportunities as the team ranked sixth in the country in shots per game.
Individually, Walls was able to tally 72 shots on the season to rank her second in the MSC. Her high shot count led her to six goals on the year. Hall on the other hand was able to record nine goals throughout the season with 32 shots on goal for the season
Jessie Bryson, the freshman from Canada, also earned herself an All-Conference honor as she was selected to the second team.
Bryson was able to add to the CU attack, as she led the Lady Tigers in goals with 10. Bryson's 10 goals rank her third in the Mid-South Conference with 0.71 goals per contest.
In a new procedure with the Champion of Character, the Mid-South Conference eliminated the overall winner of the Champion of Character award to recognize a member of each team on the new Champions of Character Team.
Jordan Stallings was the Lady Tiger nominee for the Champion of Character Team.
Campbellsville also had 16 nominees selected to the Academic All-Conference Team.
Lindsey Wilson was also recognized as the 2019 regular season champions as their head coach, Drew Burwash was named Coach of the Year. Sina Cavelti of LWC was also named as the MSC Player of the Year.
Cumberland University captured the other two individual honors as Sarah Haddock received Defensive Player of the Year and Marie Bathe was awarded Freshman of the Year.
The Lady Tigers will open MSC Tournament play tomorrow as they will meet Cumberland University at 2:30 p.m. ET in Bowling Green, Ky.
