BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – On Saturday, the Lady Tigers traveled to Phil Moore Park to take part in the Mid-South Conference Championship meet.
Mia Rodriguez and
Gabrielle Velez led CU to a fourth-place finish, as the pair earned Second Team All-MSC honors. Rodriguez and Velez navigated much of the 5,000-meter race side-by-side, finishing only seconds apart. Rodriguez was able to finish ninth with a 19:46, while Velez followed in 11
th, three seconds later.
Miranda Rzendzian and
Ashlyn Elmore also finished neck and neck for CU in the 20
th and 21
st spots. Rzendzian, started the race with Rodriguez and Velez helping to develop a nice trio near the front of the pack, but fell off midway through the race. Nonetheless, she was able to come away with a 20
th place finish with a solid 20:45 finishing time. Elmore followed with a 20:48.
Rounding out the scoring five for CU was
Olivia Napier who came away with 33
rd overall. The senior was able to finish with a 21:23, posting her best MSC finish in her career.
Maggie Parrish and
Jennifer Maxwell finished up the scoring for Campbellsville. Parrish was able to run a 21:50 to place 43
rd overall. Maxwell followed with a 22:31 for 55
th place.
Abigail Coleman also ran in the meet for the Lady Tigers as the freshman finished 62
nd with a 23:16.
Brooke Smith led Shawnee State to the team title as she was crowned the individual champion. Shawnee State used a 46-point score to take down the University of the Cumberlands who scored 52.
Campbellsville took fourth overall totaling 94 points on the day.
At the banquet following the meet, CU was honored with Velez and Rodriguez earning all-conference, as well as
Maggie Parrish being selected to the MSC Champion of Character Team.
The Lady Tigers will now travel to Point Lookout, Mo. next week to take part in the NCCAA National Championship.
