Series Facts:
  • The Tigers and Blue Raiders are meeting for the 72nd time in program history.
  • CU leads the series record 42-29.
  • While playing in the Biggers Sports Center, the Tigers own a 17-15 record including two-in-row in 2018 and 2019.
  • Even though the Tigers lead the series with a wide margin, since the 1995 -96 season, CU and LWC are tied with 25 wins a piece in the series.
  • In the Brent Vernon era, the Tigers are 5-2. Their lone loses came in the MSC Tournament Finals in 2018 and on the road in 2017.
  • Also in the Vernon era, CU is averaging 75.2 points per game compared to 69.4 for LWC.
  • In the Biggers Sports Center, the Tigers are just two points clear in scoring averaging at 74-72.
Vernon vs. Adkins:
  • Keith Adkins hired Brent Vernon in the summer of 2012 and the two led the Tigers to two NAIA tournament appearances and one Fab Four showing. The Tigers also won a MSC regular season and tournament title in 2015 - which is the last time CU ranked No. 1 in NAIA.
  • Adkins departed CU for Life University in May 2015 and Vernon was hired in June 2015.
  • Adkins took the Tigers to the NAIA Fab Four in 2015 and then took Life University to the title game in 2016.
  • After a rebuilding year in 2016-17 for the Tigers, Vernon has reached the NAIA Tournament the last two seasons.
  • In the last three seasons, Vernon is 2-5 against Adkins during his tenure at Life and Lindsey Wilson.
Weining is starting to heat up:
  • Sophomore Sam Weining sparked the Tigers last weekend by averaging 16 points in the two post- Thanksgiving Classic games.
  • Against Oakland City, Weining hit a career-high four 3-point baskets and dropped a high 18 points.
  • He backed that up against Philander Smith on Saturday with 16 points, including two 3-point baskets in the final three minutes to spark the Tigers with a 15-point comeback win.
  • Weining leads the Tigers by hitting 48 percent from deep and his 14 made 3-pointers match Jacob King for tops on the season as well.
Max Reyes Providing Depth:
  • Freshman Max Reyes was inserted into the lineup last weekend and provided much-needed depth at the point guard position.
  • Reyes scored a career-high 14 points, grabbed six rebounds, dished out three assists and snagged three steals against Oakland City.
  • The depth has been a concern for CU, but Reyes has stepped in nicely as of late.
Tiger Clawz:
  • CU is playing just its second true road game of the year on Saturday.
  • The Tigers have hit a 3-pointer in 529-straight games dating back to the beginning of the 2003- 04 season on Dakstats.
  • The first half has been the Tigers' friend this season, outscoring opponents 433-336. The second half has been their nemesis only outscoring opponents, 463-416.
  • When leading at halftime, the Tigers are 5-3.
  • Taiveyhon Mason ranks sixth in the NAIA in steals with 25 and No. 19 with 2.2 steals per game.
  • Mason is 0.9 rebounds per game and one block away from leading the Tigers in the main stat categories - points, assists, steals, field goals made.
  • CU has three separate two-game win streaks.
  • CU is seeking to win its third-straight game - which would be the largest streak for the Tigers this season.
Scouting Lindsey Wilson:
  • The Blue Raiders enter with a 9-3 non-conference record and have won four of their last five games.
  • The lone loss in that stretch came to Faulkner University on Dec. 1, 97-68 -- the final game of the Battle at the Beach in Panama City, Florida.
  • The 29-point loss is the widest margin of defeat for coach Keith Adkins since a 29-point loss to Pikeville on Jan. 27, 2018 when he coached for Life University.
  • It's also the largest defeat for the Blue Raiders since Pikeville beat them by 30 points, 107-77, on Feb. 8, 2018.
  • The Blue Raiders have five scoring in double figures, including Reece Brooks leading the way at 19.6 points per game.
  • Brooks, a transfer from the University of Albany, ranks third in the MSC in scoring average behind Pikeville's Jordan Perry (20) and Georgetown's Nice Clareth (21.6).
  • His total scoring of 235 points is second in the country, his 66 assists ranks No. 3, his 38 made 3-point baskets ranks sixth and his 5.5 assists/ game mark is 10th.
  • Local product Kel Stotts is averaging 14.6 points and leads the team in steals with 15.
  • The Blue Raiders rank third in the NAIA with 138 made 3-point baskets and No. 6 in assists (209).
