CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Campbellsville men's volleyball will play their first match in six days with a road contest at Cincinnati Christian as the Tigers and Eagles will face off for the third time this season.
In each of the last two matches this season, CU won both matches by way of sweep in Gosser Gym in February. On Feb. 2, the Tigers won the sets 25-13, 25-16, and 25-19 and on Feb. 20, Campbellsville won the sets 25-12, 25-16, and 25-12 for the sweep wins.
Most recently, Campbellsville won their match last Tuesday at Midway University 3-1. The Tigers hit for a lower percentage than Midway but used aces and blocks to gain the advantage on the point scoring side with a combined 17 aces and blocks compared to just nine for the Eagles.
Leading attackers
Rafael Cruz and
Jason Camacho did just that against MU with 16 kills from Cruz and 12 from Camacho to be the only Tigers in double digits in the match. Cruz also added three of the eight aces and
Jeremy Hernandez and
Nils Kleinschmidt were the blocking leader
On the attack for Cincinnati Christian, Michael Hiroskey and Braden Shelley carry a lot of the load for the Eagles. Hiroskey has 157 kills for second-best but with a team-leading .187 hitting percentage as Shelley is at a team-leading 161.
After Monday's match at Cincinnati Christian, the Tigers will have two-straight home matches, first this Wednesday against Bluefield College. CU will also finish up their home schedule against Cumberland University for senior day on March 26.
