Tigers head into final stretch of regular season with trips to Thomas More and Lourdes

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Campbellsville University men's volleyball team will hit the road for their final four matches of the 2019 regular season this weekend starting Thursday night at Thomas More University and continuing on Friday and Saturday at the Lourdes University Invitational.

The Tigers are in the midst of a 12-match winning streak that started back on Feb. 12 against Midway University that included a win against the Saints of Thomas More on March 5. Thursday night's match was originally scheduled for March 1 but a scheduling conflict in the Thomas More gym caused the match to be rescheduled to this current date.

In the March 5 match between the Saints and Tigers in Campbellsville, CU won in a 3-0 sweep with all of the sets being won by double-digit margins at 25-13, 25-12, and 25-14. Campbellsville led significantly in every category and boasted a .413 hitting percentage to the -.145 percentage from Thomas More.

After Thursday's match, the Tigers will head north to Sylvania, Ohio for a three-match tournament hosted by the No. 2 team in the NAIA Coaches' Poll Lourdes University. CU will play in one match on Friday against Cardinal Stritch University before competing twice on Saturday against Lawrence Tech at 9:00 a.m. ET followed by taking on No. 2 Lourdes at 11:30.

The Wolves of Cardinal Stritch are 10-14 on the season and riding a four-match winning streak with their most recent win coming against Judson University. They will also face off against Saint Xavier University on Thursday before going head-to-head with the Tigers on Friday.

The Lawrence Tech Blue Devils are 15-14 in 2019 with losses at home to Siena Heights and Olivet most recently over the last eight days. They will face Charleston in their first match of the invitational on Friday before seeing the Tigers on Saturday morning.

CU's biggest match of the week will be against the Gray Wolves of Lourdes as the Tigers will face an NAIA ranked opponent for the first time since early February. Lourdes is 18-3 on the season with their last loss coming against Limestone on March 13. They have four attackers in triple digits in the kill category with three of them over the 200 mark on the season.

This weekend will close out the regular season for the Tigers, as they will head into the Mid-South Conference Tournament next weekend as the North Division Champions. The tournament will take place at the Ephram White Gym in Bowling Green, Ky. over three days starting Thursday, April 4.
