KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the first time in his four-year career, senior men's tennis player
Will True earned a spot on the NAIA All-America lineup as a member of the Second Team.
True continues the streak of Campbellsville men's tennis having an NAIA All-American as they have had members selected each of the last two seasons. He played on the No. 1 court in either singles or doubles play 42 of the 46 total matches he played in the 2019 season.
The Bowling Green, Ky. native went 14-6 in singles play, all at the No. 1 spot, playing all but one result as the top singles player on the CU roster. True went 14-12 overall in doubles play, 12-10 at the No. 1 spot and 2-2 at the No. 2 spot, competing with five different partners.
His play in singles competition was a big part of the Tigers winning their second-straight NCCAA National Championship as he won three of his four matches with the fourth not finishing as he held a one set to none lead. In fact, he did not drop a set in singles play the four matches CU competed in at the NCCAA Championship including winning in the championship dual against Ottawa University Arizona 7-6, 6-4.
Campbellsville finished the 2019 dual schedule with a 19-9 record and advanced to the Mid-South Conference semifinals where they eventually lost to Lindsey Wilson College.
