No. 5 Lindsey Wilson scores all three runs with two outs to claim MSC title over Lady Tigers

Box Score BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Lindsey Wilson scored three runs in the first two innings and Lady Tiger softball couldn't overcome the early deficit, falling in the Mid-South Conference Tournament championship game, 3-2.

Payton Blades (4-2) was really good in the circle the final four innings but the Blue Raiders capitalized on a pair of walks in the first inning and never let go of the lead.

The Blue Raiders led after an RBI single by Makea-Al Kaluau in the first inning, but Blades would get out of the frame allowing only the one run.

In the second, the Lady Tigers had the bases loaded after Annabelle Ramirez walked three batters but CU couldn't scratch a run. Lindsey Wilson scored again with two outs. Cassie Matlock delivered a two-run single to left field on a change-up floating in the middle of the zone to put the Blue Raiders ahead, 3-0.

Campbellsville answered right back though. The Lady Tigers took advantage of a one-out walk to Mia Aldridge and a double by Riley Hurst to set up the lone scoring play for CU. Ryley Whitney delivered a two-run double to the wall in left-center to bring the deficit to one, 3-2.

With Ivy Hedgespeth on second base as the pinch-runner for Whitney, Tori Humphrey and Lexi Miller both flew out to the outfield to end the really for CU in the third.

In the fifth, the Lady Tigers had their final chance to score. A one-out walk to Aldridge again setup back-to-back singles by Whitney and Humphrey but Aldridge was thrown out at the plate trying to score from second base.

Annabelle Ramirez (15-0) didn't have her best stuff in the circle for the Blue Raiders but the MSC Pitcher of the Year found a way to limit the Lady Tigers' offensive production in the final four innings.

Campbellsville will now be on the bubble to see if it will get an NAIA Opening Round bid or not. The Lady Tigers boast a 33-13 record on the year and took No. 5 Lindsey Wilson down to the wire in three of the four games played this season.
