CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY. – On Saturday, the Tigers split their double dual meet in final competition before the postseason.
In the breaststroke events, the birthday boy,
Micah Lauer celebrated his big day with a pair of personal bests and third place finishes.
Lauer opened up the day in the 100-yard breaststroke with a 1:07.08, marking a personal record by nearly half of a second.
Justin Spalding (1:08.51) and
Brandon Bagwell (1:09.12) narrowly trailed Lauer in fourth and fifth places.
The trio later double their distance in the 200-yard breaststroke, finishing third, fourth, and fifth once again. Lauer again led the way with a best time of 2:30.95 as Spalding (2:35.10) and Bagwell (2:43.99) followed.
Sebastian Escobar started the day for Campbellsville right, winning the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:07.82, in his first attempt at the event. He later competed as a part of the 200-yard freestyle relay team as Tigers, Escobar,
RJ Harris,
Noah Ackermann, and
Tucker Hardin, marked a 1:35.18 for second place.
Escobar later went on for a runner finish in the 500-yard freestyle, finishing in 4:47.35.
Collin McGuire, in his first time swimming the event, put together a stellar performance in the 200-yard freestyle, as his 1:52.71 placed him third. Harris (1:55.95) and Ackermann (1:58.46) followed in fifth and sixth as Acker threw together a solid personal best.
Harris later went on to finish in third in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 23.87.
Nick Kessler (24.10), Spalding (25.07), Bagwell (25.38), and Lauer (25.66) joined Harris for fourth, sixth, eighth, and ninth.
Harris again competed in the 100-yard freestyle with Hardin, as the pair of seniors took second and fourth in the event. Harris led with a time of 51.60 as Hardin followed in 53.58.
Despite falling to Lindsey Wilson, the Tigers overtook Thomas Moore 159-12.
This closes the regular season for CU as the Tigers look to Feb. 5 to begin the Mid-South Conference Championships in Kingsport, Tenn.
