GREENVILLE, S.C. – Two days after earning the championship of the NCCAA Invitational, Campbellsville University men's volleyball junior
John Montalvo was named the NCCAA's Student Athlete of the Week.
Montalvo, primarily the libero for the Tigers, had a strong four-game stretch in Palos Heights, Ill. as CU went 4-0 in the combination of pool play and the championship match of the NCCAA Invite.
The tournament's opening match for Campbellsville against Judson University was his best of the week as he recorded a double-double with 10 kills and 17 digs while adding two assists. Both kill and dig totals led all players in the match in those categories and both season highs in his first season playing for the Tigers.
He finished the week with two kills and 26 assists for a four-match total of 12 kills, nine assists, and 43 digs for a 3.07 digs per set average.
Campbellsville men's volleyball will play their first home matches of the season this week when they host Reinhardt, Goshen, and Life this Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday starting with Reinhardt coming to Gosser Gymnasium this Tuesday for a 7 p.m. ET first serve.
