CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Coming off of a 3-0 sweep win in their home opener on Tuesday against Reinhardt, the Campbellsville University men's volleyball team will host a pair of matches at Gosser Gymnasium on Friday and Saturday when they host Goshen College and Life University.
The No. 2 Tigers will host Goshen at Gosser on Friday for a 7 p.m. ET first serve with the Running Eagles coming in to face CU on Saturday for a 3 p.m. ET start time.
In CU's win against Reinhardt, the Tigers were dominant in every facet of the match with a 45-15 advantage in kills, a hitting percentage advantage of .452-.021, and a 10-1 advantage in blocks on their way to an overall point advantage of 62-19.
Yannik Ahr,
Ramon Matos, and
Rafael Cruz were the top Tigers on the front row on Tuesday with Ahr leading all players with 12 kills as Matos and Cruz added seven each. Matos also had seven blocks in the match with Cruz finishing with three blocks as well to limit the Reinhardt attack all match.
Goshen will enter Friday's match with a 2-2 record after wins against Indiana Institute of Technology and Lincoln College with their two losses coming against Trinity Christian College and Aquinas College within their first two weeks of the season.
On the attack for the Maple Leafs, Alexander Rabadzhiev leads the way with 59 total kills so far this season through four matches and a .305 hitting percentage. Their primary setter, Michael Wahl, has 114 assists on 152 of the team's kills for an 8.1 assists per set average.
Life has also played in four matches as they went out to Atherton, Calif. for a four-match tournament hosted by Menlo College. The Running Eagles went 2-2 in that tournament with wins against Siena Heights University and University of California-Merced as their losses came against No. 7 Menlo and Hope International University.
Offensively for LU, senior Alex Gonzalez and freshman Felipe Gonzalez both have over 50 kills through four matches with Alex leading at 54 and Felipe just behind at an even 50. Allain Larroche sets up the attack for the Running Eagles as Larroche has 127 assists so far this season for a 9.8 assist per set average.
Both Goshen and Life will also face off against each other on Saturday morning at 11 a.m. ET prior to the Campbellsville match against Life. After these two matches for the Tigers, they will begin a four-match road trip starting next Tuesday with a Mid-South Conference match at Cumberland University.
