Tiger wrestling earns No. 3-seed for weekend's NWCA National Duals

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A record 92 college teams will be participating in Mat Mayhem this coming weekend at the Kentucky Exposition Center at the NWCA's annual National Duals and Campbellsville University has two teams in the field. 
 
The 2020 U.S. Marine Corps NWCA Multi-Division National Dual Meet Championships presented by ARMS Software and Defense Soap hosted by NUWAY takes place January 10-11 with Louisville as the host for the second straight year.

Of the 92 teams, 65 are nationally ranked, including the top-ranked teams in five of the six Divisions. Of the 92 squads competing, 12 different schools will have both their men's and women's wrestling teams in action Campbellsville University is one of the 12. 
 
The Tigers enter the weekend with an impressive national duals record over the previous 10 years. Since 2010, the Tigers have finished inside the Top 8 every year at the NWCA National Duals. 

This year, the Tigers come is as the No. 3-seed and will face Cumberland University, a team the Tigers beat earlier in the year 34-6, and the winner will face either No. 6 University of the Cumberlands or No. 15 Life University. 

The Tigers and Phoenix square off at 11 a.m. ET at Freedom Hall on Mat 3. The winner will remain at Mat 3 and compete at 3 p.m.

Grand View is riding college wrestling's second-best dual win streak. Winners of 81 straight duals, Grand View is also seeking its ninth straight NAIA National Duals crown. Six different teams have fallen to Grand View in the finals since 2012. Grand View opens with Brewton-Parker with the winner facing either No. 8 Southeastern or Providence. Reinhardt University will make its first National Duals appearance and comes in ranked second in the country.

The Tigers are in the opposite bracket of Grand View and the two would only square off in the finals. 

Campbellsville is led individually by sophomore Dayton Marvel at 141 pounds as the No. 1-ranked wrestler in the country. Senior Marvin Galette is the No. 2-ranked wrestler at 133 pounds.
