Tigers dominate on senior day, setting six new school records while defeating Shawnee State 197-41

Campbellsville, KY- The Tigers went out in style in the Powell Athletic Center with a dominant performance over Shawnee State on senior day breaking six new school records.
 
Campbellsville won the dual meet 208 to Shawnee State's 20 points total. The Tigers first win and record came from the 200 meter medley relay team. Ian Lopez, Israel Kolomiyets, William Luciano, and Sebastian Escobar were able to complete the event in 1:57.26 beating out the previous school record of 1:57.75 set last year. 
 
Escobar's day had just gotten started after the 200 medley relay. He won the 200 meter freestyle in which he won with a time of 1:59.39 which is .11 off his school record time of 1:59.28. Escobar went on to also win the 100 meter butterfly and set the school record in that as well. The new time of 1:00.64 is three seconds ahead of the old record of 1:03.44. His time was over a second from qualifying him for the event which would have needed a 59.20.
 
Joining Escobar on more school records on the day was Ian Lopez. Lopez went on to win the 50 meter freestyle with a time of 25.37 which came in .60 seconds ahead of the previous school record Escobar set last season. Lopez would also collect a win in the 100 meter freestyle with a time of 59.39.
 
Israel Kolomiyets also had another record set coming off the 200 medley relay on the day. His time of 1:12.99 in the 100 meter breaststroke was over three seconds ahead of the field and set the school record held by Noah Ackermann last season.
 
Ackermann was the final Tiger to put his name in the record books on the day. Ackermanns win the 200 meter backstroke set the school record with a time of 2:28.39. Ackermann was able to reach to the wall to set the record by .50 seconds which Tanguy Claisse held of 2:29.89 back in 2016-17.

The lone senior Justin Spalding was able to pick up one final win in the home pool in the 200 meter IM. Spalding was ahead of the field by 13 seconds with his finishing split iof 2:38.18.
 
The Tigers swept five events in which the Bears were unable to score on. The 200 meter freestyle, 100 meter backstroke, 100 meter breaststroke, 50 meter freestyle, and the 100 meter butterfly.
 
Overall the Tigers were able to pull out wins in 15 out of the 28 events swam on the day. This meet concluded the Tigers fall portion of the schedule and will look to be adding meets in the spring.
