Tiger volleyball returns to Gosser for MSC home opener with Thomas More

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Tuesday afternoon, the Tigers return back to the Gosser Gymnasium for their Mid-South Conference home opener against Thomas More University at 7 p.m. ET.

Coming off a three-game road trip in the Carolinas against NCAA Division II opponents, the newly ranked NAIA No. 1 dropped their first two matches of the season.

Campbellsville started the weekend looking to continue their unbeaten streak, quickly jumping up 2-0 over the Belmont Abbey. However, service and attack errors hindered the Tigers ability as they dropped six consecutive sets, to fall 3-2 to the Crusaders and then 3-0 to Limestone College.

Nonetheless, in their final match of the weekend, CU looked to bounce back against North Greenville University as they picked up their 10thstraight set victory of the season.

Through the three matches, Yannik Ahr and Rafael Cruz led the Tiger attacking front with 35 and 34 kills.

In the final match of the weekend, however, it was Jason Camacho who led the Tigers to their bounce back win, as the sophomore was able to record season highs in kills (10), aces (5), and digs (8).

Thomas More enters the MSC battle boasting a 4-3 overall record, going 1-0 inside MSC play with a win over Bluefield.

Entering the match, Mason Cobbler leads the Saint attack as he has used 144 attempts to pick up 40 kills on the season.

Thus far, the Saints have met two common opponents with CU with a five-set victory over Reinhardt before being swept by Cumberland University. The Tigers on the other hand, defeated both teams in straight sets.

Last season the Tigers met with Thomas More twice earning a pair of 3-0 wins. In the Saints last venture to the Gosser Gymnasium, CU took 25-13, 25-12, 25-14 wins behind 10 kills from Jose Viera, hitting .413 as a team.

The volleyball program will also be honoring volleyball programs throughout the state with KY Boys Volleyball Night.
