Tiger baseball to play Midway University on Monday afternoon at 2:30 for home opener

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — The 2020 home opener for Tiger baseball has been moved up a day due to predicted weather forecasts and the Tigers will now play Midway University at HIG Field on Monday, Feb. 16 at 2:30 p.m. ET. 
 
Campbellsville is coming of another 2-2 weekend record when the 25th-ranked Tigers lost a pair of No. 18 Bryan College but won against home-standing William Carey. 
 

Series Facts vs. Midway
  • Since Midway started men's sports starting the 2016-17 season, Campbellsville boasts a 4-1 record against the Eagles. 
  • The Tigers are averaging 7.6 runs per game in the series, while Midway averages 3.2. 
  • The first meeting came on Feb. 14, 2017 when the Tigers won 8-1 at home. 
  • The only loss in the series came in the last meeting on April 10, 2018 when Midway won 7-3. 
  • Last season, the Tigers and Eagles were scheduled to play two separate times but weather didn't cooperate either time.
Home Opener Notes:
  • HIG Field has played home to the Tigers since the inception of the program. 
  • Head coach Beauford Sanders is in his 30th season as head coach and boasts an overall record of 1,202-849. 
  • In Coach Sanders' tenure since starting in 1990, the Tigers own a 448-227 record at home. 
  • Last season, the Tigers started playing at home on Feb. 19 vs. IU Southeast falling 17-9. 
Midway has started slow to 2020:
  • The Eagles have started slow with a 2-8 record. 
  • The two wins came against Martin Methodist, 3-1, and Siena Heights, 3-2. 
  • The Eagles are averaging 2.8 runs per game and allowing 8.4. 
  • Graeham Luttor leads the way hitting .391 with two home runs and nine RBI in eight games. 
  • On the mound, the Eagles boast a team ERA of 8.85 and have allowed 61 earned runs. 
  • Defensively, the Eagles have committed 18 errors in 10 games and allowed 23 unearned runs.
  • The starting pitchers thus far all have ERAs of 8+ besides Andy Melgoza. He's 1-0 on the year in three games, one start, and an ERA of 1.08.
