Men's wrestling holds steady at No. 10; Mid-South Conference earns 56 allocations for the NAIA Championship

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The final NAIA Wrestling Coaches' Regular Season Top 20 Poll was released on Thursday and Campbellsville University remained at No. 10.

The Tigers are one of four programs from the Mid-South Conference in the Top 10 as CU earned 83 voting points from the national raters.

At Nos. 3-5, it's University of the Cumberlands, Life University and Lindsey Wilson, respectively. No other conference has this many in the Top 10.

Grand View continues to hold down the No. 1 spot with 212 voting points and all the first-place votes. The Vikings have earned 57-straight No. 1-rankings dating back to Oct. 17, 2012.

The National Office also announced the NAIA Wrestling National Championship Allocations and the Mid-South Conference had the overwhelming majority of 56 wrestlers.

Each conference tournament was awarded automatic bids per weight class based on the final regular-season poll, which can be seen below. Each conference was awarded automatic berths based on the number of wrestlers ranked in each weight class. Each conference was awarded a minimum of one automatic bid per weight class, which will go to the tournament champions, even if the conference did not have any wrestlers ranked in the final regular-season poll.

After the conference tournaments have concluded, a 14-member committee consisting of conference raters and oversight members will meet to select the remaining 12 national at-large qualifiers, which will be released Tuesday, February 25 by 5 p.m. (CST). The seeding and preliminary brackets will be announced on NAIA.org by 5 p.m. (CST) on Friday, February 28.

The NAIA coaches' poll is voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the seven conferences. The top 20 individuals in each weight class is based on how each voter ranks the best individuals.

The 2020 NAIA Wrestling National Championships will take place at Hartman Arena in Park City, KS March 6-7, 2020. But first, the Mid-South Conference Championship runs Friday-Saturday, Feb. 21-22 at Ephram White Gym in Bowling Green, Ky.

Individually, the Tigers have nine wrestlers ranked in their respective weight classes.
