Six Tigers remain alive in Mid-South Conference Men's Wrestling semifinal rounds

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — No. 10 Campbellsville has six Tigers that have moved on to the semifinal round after Day 1 of the Mid-South Conference Men's Wrestling Championships. 
 
The Tigers, which are in fifth place in a close team race, still have a big chance to move up in the team standings and secure bids to the NAIA Championship. 
 
Overall, Campbellsville's six individuals in the semifinals rounds and four others that are still alive in the consolation bracket. 
 
No. 16 Jordan Martinez (125) and No. 10 Ashton Mutuwa (285) were fortunate to earn byes and only have to wrestle once on Day 1 of the Championship. Martinez earned a 5-2 win over Isaac Crowell in the quarterfinal round. He will now face No. 6 Cagen Wallace of Lindsey Wilson in the semifinals. Mutuwa earned a 5-4 win over Andrew Bissainthe of Life University. He will now have a rematch against rival and No. 1 Brandon Reed of Lindsey Wilson in the final four. 
 
At 141 pounds, No. 7 Dayton Marvel remains alive with two wins on Friday. He beat Gavin Foushee of Thomas More, 16-5, and swept Anthony Caruso of Midway, 8-0, to advance into the semifinal. Marvel will meet up with another Blue Raider in No. 10 Trent Johnson on Saturday. 
 
No. 13 Michael Diemer stayed alive at 149 pounds. He won a pair of matches of Miday's Lee Johnson (9-6) and Cumberlands' Chasen Brown (11-6). Diemer will now face top-ranked Tres Leon of Cumberlands in the semifinal. 
 
No. 14 Mahlic Sallah stayed alive at 174 pounds with two pins during his Friday. He took down Cameron Butler in 3:59 and Wyatt Forsberg in 3:41. Now Sallah will battle No. 10 Coleman Bryant of Southeastern in the semifinal. 
 
No. 7 Zach Linton is the final Tiger in the semifinal after earning a pin in 1:56 over Isaiah McDougal and winning 9-6 over Blake Rypel. Linton will face another Patriot on Saturday, No. 5 Ramsey Bloy, in the semifinal. 
 
No. 10 Marvin Galette (133), Aaron Rugnao (141), No. 13 Tristan Sellmer (157) and David Richardson (184) remain in the consolation rounds. Richardson is wrestling in the consolation semifinals on Saturday while the others will be battling throughout the day.
