No. 10 Tigers complete regular season with dominance on Senior Night

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — The Senior Night duals for No. 10 Campbellsville went as many would think.... quick and painful. The Tigers took down Midway and Brewton-Parker with ease on Friday night to close on their regular season with a 21-2 overall record.

Campbellsville honored its seven seniors in between duals – Michael Beets, Aaron Rugnao, Michael Diemer, Ashton Mutuwa, Zach Linton, Kolten Radaz and Marvin Galette (see pictured above).

All seven seniors earned wins to close on their Tiger career at home.

Campbellsville 48, Midway 3
The Tigers dominated the Eagles only allowing one match win for Midway throughout. It started with a 12-0 advantage after forfeits at 125 and 133 but then it was Rugnao putting the Tigers ahead, 18-0, with a pin in 1:33.

After a loss at 149, the Tigers got back on track with consecutive decisions by Tristan Sellmer and Logan Smith. Then it was four-straight pins to close out the dual for Calieb Ray, David Richardson, Linton and Mutuwa.

Campbellsville 41, Brewton Parker 7
The Tigers didn't get an easy start against the Barons like they did the Eagles but it was still a pair of bonus point wins that propelled CU on top.

Beets and Radaz both earned major decisions to put CU ahead, 8-0, then it was a forfeit win for Rugnao giving CU a 14-0 advantage after three matches.

Diemer and Sellmer continued their solid wrestling at 149 and 157 pounds, respectively. Diemer pinned his opponent in 4:48 while Sellmer had almost four minutes of riding time to major Mitchell Thompson, 9-1.

Leading now 24-0 in the dual, Brewton-Parker took down Logan Smith and Calieb Ray but the trio between Jaden Sonner, Zach Linton and Ashton Mutuwa sealed the deal.

Sonnor earned a pin in 1:44, while Linton tallied his highest point total in a match all season with a 18-2 tech fall. Mutuwa ended the night with an injury default win for another set of bonus points.

Up Next:
The Tigers will now have a little over two weeks to prepare for the Mid-South Conference Championships scheduled for Feb. 22-23 in Bowling Green, Ky.
