Casey Bradstreet named Mid-South Conference Men's Swimming Coach of the Year

KINGSPORT, Tenn. — For the first time in her career, head coach Casey Bradstreet was named the Mid-South Conference Men's Swimming Coach of the Year, which was announced after the conference championships on Saturday. 
 
Bradstreet, who is in her ninth season leading the women's team and eighth with the men, earns the second Coach of the Year honor in her tenure. She was named the women's Coach of the Year in 2015. 
 
The Tigers had a stellar conference championship meet this weekend as freshman Sebastian Escobar started the meet well for CU, swimming a 4:39.34 in the 500-yard freestyle to finish as MSC runner-up with an NAIA A-cut mark.
 
Escobar earned another NAIA A-cut with a career best in the 200 freestyle placing second with a time of 1:42.44. On Saturday, another A-cut was met in the 1650 freestyle. 
 
Collin McGuire then followed Escobar's performance with his own career best mark in the 200 IM, where he earned a B-cut with a 1:59.67 for 10th place. McGuire also earned an A-cut standard for the NAIA on Friday night in the 400 IM finishing in sixth. On Saturday, McGuire closed his championship with an A-cut in the 200 butterfly preliminary. 
 
Overall in the championship, Campbellsville brought home six national marks and 11 career best marks leading to Bradstreet's Coach of the Year honor. 
 
In her tenure as head coach, Bradstreet has emphasized character within her swim program and it was shown throughout the athletic department at CU when her team was selected to as the inaugural Team Servant Leadership Award at Campbellsville's first Athletics Awards Night.
 
She has led the women's team to the NAIA Championship every year since 2012, followed by the men every year since 2016. Bradstreet was recognized as the Mid-South Conference Women's Swimming Coach of the Year in 2015. Her outstanding leadership has also earned the men's and women's teams the NAIA Buffalo Funds Five Star Champions of Character Team award in 2014 and 2016. Since 2011, Bradstreet has produced four MSC individual Champions of Character award winners.
 
A native of Bath, N.Y., Bradstreet began her competitive swim experience with the Corning Community YMCA River Rats, in Corning N.Y. While a student at Eastern University, she swam with EU's club team in St. Davids, Pa. before competing for Campbellsville University in 2007-2008.
 
During her time as an undergraduate, she was the individual Champions of Character recipient in 2008 and was an NAIA Scholar-Athlete for both seasons of competition. She holds a bachelor's degree in theater with a minor in educational ministries.
