No. 21 Tigers fall to Southwestern College Builders, 4-3

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — After leading 1-0 by winning two of the three doubles matches, the Tigers slipped in singles and were upset by Southwestern College on Monday evening, 4-3. 
 
Cristian Perez and David Carbo won 6-2 at No. 1 doubles and Raul Safont teamed up with Matus Sevcik for a -1 win at No. 3. 
 
But then it was three straight losses in singles as Southwestern took a 3-1 lead. The 21st-ranked Tigers snagged two wins in a row as Safont rallied in a three-set win 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 over David Moral-Tebar and Sevcik won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2, over Santiago Bracco tying the dual at three. 
 
But the Builders won the final match at No. 6 singles. Alberto Perez lost to Ben Erdmann, 6-2, 6-3 giving Southwestern College the victory.  
 
Campbellsville now boasts a 4-5 overall record and are in the middle of a nine-match home stand throughout March 28. 
 
CU hosts Brescia University on Saturday, March 14 at the Kelly Hall Tennis Complex.
