Box Score BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Slow starts in both halves plague the Tigers as they fell to Shawnee State, 86-69, in the Mid-South Conference Tournament.
Campbellsville dug itself into an early 11-point deficit as Shawnee State began the game on an 11-0 run. The Tigers, however, weathered the storm and took a brief lead with 5:29 remaining in the half and faced a two-point deficit at halftime.
David Simmons was huge in the first half as he poured in 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting and nailing both of his attempts from beyond the arc.
De'Undra Singleton also came off the bench to add in nine points.
Shawnee State was without two of its stars as EJ Onu and Kyree Elder picked up two fouls a piece early, while Elder picked up his third with eight minutes remaining.
The Bears were able to start the second half on a 10-2 run and extend the lead to double digits and never looked back.
A lone bright spot in the second half was
Jacob King as he scored all 11 points in the second half.
Simmons led the Tigers in scoring as he poured in 21 points, while hitting three triples. King, Singleton, and
Taiveyhon Mason also reached double digit scoring marks scoring 11, 11, and 10 points, respectively.
Campbellsville will now await to see if they will receive an at-large bid into the NAIA National Tournament. The selection show will air on Wednesday, March 11
th.
