Montalvo earns Libero and Player of the Year honors from the Mid-South Conference

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – On Tuesday the Mid-South Conference released its season award winners as John Montalvo was named the MSC's Libero and Player of the Year.
 
The redshirt junior from Ocala, Fla. earned his second Libero of the Year honor from the Mid-South Conference after receiving the award prior to transferring to CU from Warner University.
 
On the season, Montalvo played in 79 sets for the Tigers and was able to finish the season with 210 digs, ranking fourth in the Tiger single season record book, despite season's early conclusion.
 
This dig total allowed Montalvo to rank 10th in the NAIA in the category and second in the Mid-South Conference.
 
Montalvo recorded double digit dig numbers in 11 matches, including a season high 20 digs in the five-set thriller against Aquinas College.
 
Along with his dig total, Montalvo was able to record 19 service aces and 48 assists for top 16 rankings in the Mid-South Conference.
 
When playing outside the libero role, Montalvo was able to record 34 kills including a 10-kill game against Judson and a career high 12 kills against Thomas More. Montalvo recording these numbers while hitting .241 on the season.
 
Montalvo aided Campbellsville to its final ranking at No. 2 in the NAIA after a 23-2 and 9-0 MSC record prior to the early conclusion to the Tiger's season.
